This Amilcar type M convertible was acquired in 1986 from a collector in Eastern France after he had undertaken major mechanical repairs.
It was therefore in very good condition, the only thing missing was the hood of the arches and compasses.
This work was carried out according to the rules of the art, using original elements as templates, which gave the bodywork an elegant and tasteful look once it was covered.
This nice convertible is now in good condition, with a pleasant patina, the doors have no excessive play and lock properly. The red leatherette interior is also in good condition, the fittings are complete, the handles are of various origins and there is a disparity in the on-board instrumentation, the left window is to be taken back as is the lighting control and the steering wheel deserves a restoration.
The mechanics were easily restarted after a three-year stoppage, the exhaust system has become noisy and the starter relay needs to be revised.
It will therefore require a general overhaul before getting back on the road.
The interest of this Amilcar is quite singular because of its very enviable and rare bodywork and a colour combination that suits it perfectly.
It has a relatively dynamic engine compared to its contemporaries.
Thus dressed it represents the perfect counterpart of the productions more frequently encountered at this manufacturer and will find a special place in the collection of an enlightened amateur.
