S.l.n.d. 1875], 143 pp. in-folio (29 x 19.4 cm), in sheets, central fold, traces of dust and handling on some leaves. ZOOLOGY COURSE ESSENTIALLY DEVOTED TO THE HUMAN BODY. It is composed of 12 chapters (out of 18 published) paginated from [1] to 214 : [First part: functions of nutrition]. Chapter I. Preliminary notions (pp. [1] to 13). - III. Digestion (pp. 27 to 42). - IV. Digestion (continued; pp. 43-57). - V. Digestion (continued; pp. 58-70; postage stamps affixed to the back of p. 63). - VI. Digestive system in various animals (continued; pp. 71-86). - VII. Blood (continued; pp. 87-96). - VIII. Circulation (pp. 97-108). - IX. Breathing (pp. 109-123). - XI. Assimilation. Secretions (pp. 139-149). - Part Two: Relationship Functions]. Chap. I. The Skeleton (pp. 150-161). - VI. Hearing organ (pp. 205-210). - VII. The Voice (pp. 211-214; postage stamp pasted on the reverse side of p. 214). Each chapter ends with a detailed questionnaire that allows the teacher to make sure that the students have assimilated the lesson. In the margin, Fabre has added references to works on natural history or zoology written by various authors (Montmahou, Focillon, Milne-Edwards) or by himself (Les Auxiliaires, 1873). The names of the typographers have been added in the margin as well as the number of lines. This manuscript was published under the title: "Cours complet d'instruction élémentaire. Zoologie," Paris, Ch. Delagrave, 1876. The work was a great success as it was used in teaching (primary and secondary schools) for nearly twenty-five years. Cf.
