This list contains the names of nearly 50 plants, trees and shrubs intended for the Harmas, with the desired quantities, unit prices and estimated expenditure. They are classified in five categories: Fruit trees: cherry tree, almond tree, apricot tree, plum tree, pear tree, quince tree; Ornamental plants: Japanese charcoal, laurel thyme, holly, arbutus, Mahon boxwood, alaterna, phillyrea, oleander, pittosporum, buddleia; Conifers: silver fir, abies pinsapo, wellingtonia, thuja gigantea; Shrubs: gooseberry, raspberry, spiraea, deutzia; and, "for the court": laurel thyme, Japanese charcoal, privet, fir tree, oriental thyme After living in Orange for nine years, Fabre settled in 1879 in Sérignan-du-Comtat, in a property he called l'Harmas. This term meant a piece of wasteland. In order to enhance the garden, he called upon one of his best friends, the botanist Théodore Delacour, an associate of the house Vilmorin-Andrieux, as well as his gardener, Favier, a former soldier retired in Sérignan.
