DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE CAREER OF J.-H. FABRE. These letters are the following: - PAMARD (Paul), mayor of Avignon. Letter signed to M. Fabre, doctor of science. Avignon, October 31, 1857, 1 p. in-4: "I have the honor to send you an expedition of my decree, dated this day, by which I appointed you professor of Physics and Chemistry at the communal schools". - [The same]. Signed document. Avignon, October 31, 1857, 1 p. in-4" Art. 1. M. Fabre, Jean Henri [] is appointed Professor of Physics and Chemistry at the local schools to replace M. Rédarès, deceased. - Art. 2e. M. Fabre will take up his duties on November 23rd. - Art. 3. His salary is fixed at twelve hundred francs per year. - DONCIEUX (Alfred), Prefect of Vaucluse. Letter (signed by a civil servant) to J.H. Fabre, Doctor of Science, in Orange. Avignon, January 26, 1876, 1 p. in-4: "I have the honor to send you an amplification of the decree, dated January 27, 1876, by which I appointed you Director of the Agronomic Station of Avignon. - BAYET (Charles), Director of Higher Education. Signed letter (on behalf of the Minister) to J.H. Fabre. Paris, December 4, 1911, 1 p. in-4 " By order dated this day, I have appointed you 'Correspondent of the Ministry of Public Instruction'. In taking this decision, on the proposal of the Committee for Historical and Scientific Work, I wished to associate you more closely with its work". Enclosed are two empty envelopes addressed to J.-H. Fabre, one of which is marked "Professor at the lycée" (Paris, 29 January 1857 and Avignon, n.d.). Fabre added with his hand: "Flourens" on the first envelope and "Instruction publique" on the second.
