View of Soltaniyeh Dome Watercolour on paper nineteenth century This small watercolour represents a view of the city of Soltaniyeh, and in particular of its famous dome, built by order of the Ilkhanid ruler Oldjaitou to originally house the tombs of Ali and Imam Hussein. The building eventually housed the body of its sponsor. According to family tradition, this charming design is said to be the work of Colonel Colombani, Nassereddin Shah Qajar's personal physician. 9 x 15 cm (at sight)
