Two Samanides cups Clay ceramic with polychrome decoration under a transparent colourless glaze Transoxiana, probably Nichapur, 10th century, Samanid Dynasty Interesting pouring spout bowls forming almost a pair, decorated in red, ochre and black with circular frieze registers of kufic calligraphy, framed by frieze registers of dots. In the centre is a circular polychrome motif. Beaker bowls of the same shape are published in Watson, O.
