Beautiful Kashan chandelier cup Siliceous paste with metallic lustre decoration Iran, 13th century This beautiful Kashan ceramic is decorated with two figures on horseback, one of which is a falconer occupying most of the surface, the falcon resting on his gloved hand. The scene is set in a landscape of cypress trees and vegetation represented in fine dotted lines. A frieze of white calligraphy on a chandelier background frames the central decoration. On the underside, it is decorated with a line of pseudo-calligraphy. A comparable bowl is in the collections of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (Inv. N°EA1956.28). A fragment of a similarly decorated bowl is kept at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington (Inv. N°FSC-P-4812). D_20.5cm
