Sixteen Pachisi game pieces Polychrome painted ivory India, 19th century Group of sixteen conical painted ivory playing pieces (four black, four green, four red and four yellow) with floral decoration. These pieces were used to play Pachisi, the famous Indian game played on a cross-shaped board, readapted by the English in the 19th century, then by the French as a "game of little horses". The British Museum in London keeps a group of ivory Pachisi counters (dated between 1850 and 1920) under the inventory number As1927,0510.21.a-p). H_2.5 cm each
