NAPOLEON. Hat of the Emperor Napoleon I - Fragment of the canvas of the bed on which Napoleon died. Two relics gathered by Georges Retif de la Bretonne, in a frame with a reproduction of the Emperor. The handwritten description of G. Retif de la Bretonne is attached, on one of his business cards, mentioning : "I, the undersigned, certify that the frame representing the Emperor Napoleon by ??, contains two Napoleonic relics: a fragment of the black silk cap from the hat worn by the Emperor at Friedland and left by him at the Château de Fontainebleau on 9 November 1807... Hat which belonged to Mme Gazzani, Empress Josephine's reader. A fragment of the elastic canvas of the camp bed on which Napoleon died on May 5, 1821, belongs to General Bertrand. I offer them to Fabrice Tixier. Affectionately to him. H_20,2 cm W_15,2 cm, for the frame. H_8 cm L_12,8 cm, for the visiting card Also included is a black and white photograph of Georges Rétif de la Bretonne as Napoleon, with a note on the photograph, which is not very legible, and a long note on the reverse dated November 1985: "To Fabrice, with my affection for all time, Georges", then "and my gratitude for all your kindnesses" "if Georges was told", "This photo taken a long time ago...represents your friend...authentic Napoleon. H_17,7 cm W_18,1 cm And a photomontage showing Rétif de la Bretonne with various personalities and Napoleonic souvenirs. H_21 cm W_27,2 cm.
