Aaron Douglas, born May 26, 1899 in Topeka (Kansas) and died October 12, 1979 in Nashville (Tennessee) is an American painter, illustrator and visual arts teacher. He is a major figure of the African-American cultural movement called the Harlem Renaissance. He is also nicknamed "the father of African-American art".
