Marble plaque, probably of Roman senato. Decoration of incised inscription, on marble plate, and perforated cup. Roman art, 2nd-1st century B.C. H_ 28.5 cm L_ 32.5 cm. This is probably a vertical funerary stele that was included in an architectural ensemble. All the stones, sculptures and archaeology come from the collections of the castle of B. The collection was formed by Georges C.S., a scholar born in 1833 and who died in 1909. No acquisitions were made after 1909. The family, which is now selling the castle, has owned it since 1938. They had acquired it furnished, with its collections.
