Jean François Gérard FONTALLARD (Mézières, 1777- Paris, 1858). Fontallard exhibited at the Salon from 1798 to 1835, his career culminating under the Empire with the gold medal at the Salon of 1812. A talented miniaturist, he is represented in numerous museums in Europe and the United States. Portrait of a young girl in a pink dress trimmed with black, against a landscape background. Circa 1810. Miniature on ivory, signed on the right: Fontallard. H_7 cm W_5.5 cm (as seen). H_12.2 cm L_10.5 cm, for the frame. Gross weight: 59 grams. (small stains and mildew; frame missing). Provenance: coll. Paul Fourché (1840-1922) then by descent. Expert: N. Lemoine-Bouchard, member of SFEP; a Cic will be issued, not allowing export outside the European Union.
