Vincent BERTRAND (Paris, 1770 - died after 1820).
A pupil of J.-B. Regnault, he exhibited at the Salon from 1796 to 1817. In 1810, Vivant Denon, commenting on the Salon to the Emperor, cited Bertrand as one of the most skilful miniature painters in Europe.
In 1818-1820, he was based at "rue des Petits-Augustins, n° 9" in Paris.

Wood and gilded stucco frame with ribbon bow.
H_10 cm W_8.2 cm (when viewed).
H_21.5 cm W_16 cm, for the frame.
(small mold at bottom).
Gross weight: 212 grams.
Provenance: coll. Paul Fourché (1840-1922) then by descent.
