Joseph Marie BOUTON (Cadiz, 1765- Chartres, 1823). A precocious and gifted artist, Bouton exhibited at the Toulouse Salon as early as 1776, then at the Paris Salon from 1793 to 1799, and later served as miniature painter to King Charles IV of Spain. Portrait of a woman in a blue dress with triple lace collar, lace headdress and yellow shawl. Fine miniature on ivory, signed on the right: Bouton. D_8 cm. Gross weight: 131.38 grams. Rect. frame in blackened wood. H_14.5 cm L_13.2 cm. (diseased glass; small spots of oxidation, artist's joint visible on right). Provenance: coll. Paul Fourché (1840-1922) then by descent. Expert: N. Lemoine-Bouchard, member of the SFEP; a Cic will be issued, not allowing export outside the European Union.
