Circular box in gold-spotted blond tortoiseshell, both sides decorated with miniatures on ivory of men, one a chevalier de Saint-Louis in a violet jacket, the other a younger chasseur officer, perhaps aide-major of the régiment des chasseurs des Alpes (1784-91), although the distinctive color of the uniform here is pinkish. D_4.8 cm, miniatures. H_2.5 cm D_6.8 cm, box (inside old coll. label "32"). Gross weight: 54 grams. (Missing rabbet and minor accidents to the box, diseased glass). Circa 1780-1790. Expert: N.
