Precious mother-of-pearl work set, including a pair of scissors, a salt bottle, a needle case and a spool. Late Louis XVI period. It is presented in a later inlaid veneer box. A handwritten note indicates that this set was taken from Queen Marie Antoinette's work table by Baron de Vaulx, on her departure for the Temple. It also states that the thimble belongs to the Baroness de Vaulx. Presumed provenance: Reine Marie Antoinette de France. Baron de Vaulx. Mme Beulard, mother of the Intendant. Baron de Châteaux.
