Female torso.

Created in 1920, this is the artist's most important work, with the famous Parisian dancer Stasia Napierkowska as its model. The only marble example is in the National Gallery of Athens. This sculpture in the round is often described as a subtle blend of Praxiteles' antique sculptures and Art-Deco modernity.
Our example left the master's workshop in Montmartre in 1921.
The "woman's torso" is featured in Ms. Nikoleta Tzani's doctoral thesis "Costas DIMITRIADIS (1879-1943). La carrière européenne d'un sculpteur grec, 2012" in the first volume (pages 231, 232 and 233) and is numbered 241 in its catalog raisonné (volume II).
