First edition with illustrations by Chas Laborde, woodcut in color by Robert Dill. A precious copy, one of three hors commerce, published on large paper for Charles Malexis. It contains a suite of black engravings, an original gouache used for the illustration, two postcards and a signed autograph letter from Mac Orlan to Malexis. Beautiful mailing from Mac Orlan to Charles Malexis. Following the first Salon de l'Araignée, Charles Malexis and Pierre Mac Orlan founded Editions de La Banderole. Their artistic director is Jean-Gabriel Daragnès. The trio asked Chas to illustrate Mac Orlan's Le nègre Léonard et Maître Jean Mullin, which appears here for the first time (Monod 7560).
