PIERRE ROUX (1891-1965) : BIOGRAPHY Pierre Roux was from Niort, and a former student of the Arts Décoratifs in Paris. In 1918, his studio was located on rue Rabelais in Niort. Pierre Roux (1891-1965) grew up in Sevreau, a village near Saint-Liguaire. He was a pupil of Julien-Louis Giraudeau-Laurent at the Niort drawing school. He worked in Auguste Hervé's studio on avenue de Paris. Pierre Roux executed a bust of a child exhibited at the Salon in Niort in 1917. The Conseil Général des Deux-Sèvres grants him a scholarship to attend the École de Beaux Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He also took anatomy courses at the Paris Faculty of Medicine, and later directed the hospital's casting workshops. In 1926, at the request of Abbé Roy, parish priest of Saint-Liguaire, he created a statue of Sainte Macrine for the chapel in Magné. This statue, commemorating the millennium of the pilgrimage of Saint Macrine, was created in collaboration with the sculptor Auguste Hervé, and inaugurated on the occasion of the religious feast of Tuesday July 6, 1926.
