Claude-Édouard FORGEOT (1826-1888). Three... - Lot 42 - Métayer-Mermoz Maison de Ventes aux Enchères Nevers
Claude-Édouard FORGEOT (1826-1888). Three figures forming a bouquetier. Important cookie sculpture, featuring three female figures supporting a vase in the shape of a leafy horn. Signed on the terrace and engraved with "Adre". H_80 cm D_31 cm, a few accidents and glued elements. A pupil in François RUDE's workshop after studying in Dijon, sculptor Claude-Édouard FORGEOT exhibited at the Salon for the first time in 1856, and produced a number of cookies at Sèvres, mainly known through photography. Noticed by Joseph NICOLLE, he was one of the artists in residence at Sèvres from 1862. The archives list several models of the artist's main works, allegories and candelabras, created before his forced retirement from Sèvres on January 1, 1888.
