"Painted in the center of a white square background, [a] blue square progresses each year by one percent, tending toward total coverage of the background. Begun with a ratio of 50/100 (blue square/white square) in 1983, it should reach 100/100 by 2032. The program would naturally be interrupted and the work completed if I were to disappear before that date. [1]" With this immutable program, Patrick des Gachons exasperates the constituents of painting (form, figure, composition) to retain only the "truth [2]": the application of color to a support.
