Etienne-Eugène LEROUX (exhibited at the Salon circa 1891-1895). The model warming up in the studio of the artist's father. Oil on canvas, signed lower left and dated 1894. H_65 cm W_81 cm. The artist, whose birth and death dates are unknown, was a pupil of Bouguereau. He exhibited works on the same subject at several shows. In the Moniteur des Arts of June 24, 1890, he was described as "the sculptor's son". He would therefore appear to be the son of Bordeaux sculptor Gaston VEUVENOT-LEROUX. At the 1891 Salon de la Société des Artistes Français, he exhibited "l'atelier de mon père", kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lons-le-Saulnier. At the 1892 Salon, artist E.E. Leroux exhibited a painting entitled "fin de seance", Salon catalog no. 1070, reproduced in the Salon Illustré.
