Introduced in 1948, the Seamaster range is the standard-bearer of an innovation that became essential to watchmaking at the end of the Second World War: water-resistance. This model boasts stylistic features typical of the 50s, with its round case, contained diameter and imposing crown. This watch features a mechanism that contributed to the development of self-winding calibers with oscillating weight. The principle of the bumper caliber is similar to that of an automatic movement with oscillating weight: a weight subjected to gravity oscillates to wind the movement. This technology was patented by British watchmaker John Harwood. However, it does not perform a complete rotation, as springs strike the mass to continuously return it.
