Painted Chinese lacquer dial depicting a Venetian genre scene, applied round and oval yellow hour-markers, openworked hands, painted logo. Movement: hand-wound mechanical. Calibre 42.9 8-D CLEF 15 rubies - Numbered 11061124 (circa 1947). Movement and dial signed. Dimensions: 12 x 11 x 11 cm. With period case. This clock features a sublime dial in Chinese lacquer, a process that requires a natural resin obtained from the sap of a tree called the laquier. It has been used for thousands of years in Asia. Chinese lacquer is a complex and laborious process, and our dial is a painted lacquer that reveals a galant scene set in Venice. This delicate work was carried out by Omega's renowned watchmaker, Jean-Pierre Matthey Claudet. This caliber was produced in an edition of 1,000.
