With the democratization of quartz watches thanks to Japanese brands like Seiko, which marketed the first quartz watch in winter 1969, the Astron 35 SQ, in the 1970s, there was a crisis in Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship, often dubbed the "quartz crisis".
