OMEGA Seamaster Electronic F300Hz Sand Pile - Reference 198.0011. Electronic steel wristwatch. Round case in brushed steel made by Huguenin Frères (HF hallmark), smooth bezel, fluted crown, screw-down caseback with Seamaster medallion logo and seahorse. Gray dial, applied black baton hour markers enhanced by a dot of luminescent paint, painted black baton minute track, black baton hands with luminescent eggshell patina paint, red central baton seconds, French day and date windows at 3 o'clock, applied logo. Movement: electronic tuning fork. Chronometer-certified Mosaba 12-jewel Caliber 1260 - Numbered: 34694632 (circa 1972). Case, dial and movement signed. Case dimensions: 41 mm. Omega steel bracelet with Omega folding clasp - Reference 1173. In order to use the tuning fork technology in its watches, Omega must have the rights, which are owned by Bulova. This technology was developed in order to design a new type of battery-operated movement offering greater precision than mechanical calibres, which at the time was groundbreaking. The photo of this watch's caliber shows the two coils of the tuning fork vibrating 300 times per second and the American brand name. These cases are nicknamed Sand Pile, because of their imposing shapes, reminiscent of sand piles.
