A more contemporary version of the world's best-known chronograph, the 145.0808 features a new caliber, a transparent caseback for viewing, and a Superluminova dial and hands. This new luminescent paint replaces radioactive paints such as radium or tritium. Tritium dials and hands were popular, but restrictions and changes in legislation prohibited their use at the end of the 20th century, in favor of Superluminova. Superluminova retains its condition and does not age, unlike tritium, which ages and develops a patina.
Another special feature of this model is the rhodium-plated gray caliber, which appeared in 1996, thus emphasizing the more luxurious aspect.
