Louis-Ferdinand CÉLINE (1894-1961). L.A.S. "LFC", [Korsor (Danemar*)l 18 August [1948], to Charles DESHAYES in Lyon; 2 pages in-fo1., envelope. The young Lyon journalist Charles Deshayes, eager to defend Céline, had suggested that he publish a fascicule attacking his enemies. Hesitant at first, the writer finally changed his mind: "I think you're right to publish this pamphlet after all". However, he suggested adding a few texts from a list of works, including Dictionnaire des girouettes, Pierre Abel's L'Age de Cain, Marcel Aymé's Uranie [Uraniis], and so on. "I1 y a mille perles dans là-dedans. We've got to get the enemy out of his hypocrisy and his tarts. We've got to smother him in texts - first of all, we've got to stifle his jocular braying in sA PaosaE MERDE - Ffif/T EST I i et rsEv S. The enemy, rotten with bad faith, speculates on our ignorance of his own filth. He must be CITED - and re-cited. Otherwise he PERSISTS in his BLUFF"... Expert: Mr Thierry BODIN
