A pupil in François RUDE's workshop after studying in Dijon, sculptor Claude-Édouard FORGEOT exhibited at the Salon for the first time in 1856, and produced a number of cookies at Sèvres, mainly known through photography. Noticed by Joseph NICOLLE, he was one of the artists in residence at Sèvres from 1862. The archives list several models of the artist's main works, allegories and candelabras, created before his forced retirement from Sèvres on January 1, 1888.
