André DAUCHEZ (1870-1948). Landscape (Breton coasts): the guardhouse at the Pointe de Sainte-Marine in Combrit (Finistère), at the mouth of the Odet; the shore in the background is the shore of Bénodet - 1893. Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left. Titled on a label "Exposition de Bruxelles" on the reverse. H_54 cm L_65 cm, to be cleaned. Note: Our painting was exhibited in 1894 at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts (Champ-de-Mars), marking André DAUCHEZ's painting debut. Throughout his life, and during the 1st World War in particular, André DAUCHEZ contributed to numerous charities by donating paintings and etchings. Our painting is listed in the archives as having been donated as a war work in 1915. We would like to thank the artist's great-grandson, who kindly provided us with the above information.
