Egyptian clock in ormolu and Griotte red marble, decorated w - Lot 404
Egyptian clock in ormolu and Griotte red marble, decorated with a bare-chested Egyptian woman supporting the dial, surrounded by hieroglyphic columns surmounted by bulls' heads. The so-called "Thomas Hope" model. The dial with Roman numerals is signed by Joseph Dieudonné KINABLE, Palais Royal n°131, active between 1780 and 1825. Empire period. H_54 cm W_29.5 cm D_20.5 cm, faint restoration under the marble base. The good working order and condition of the movement are not guaranteed. A similar model in antique brown patina, dated circa 1805, is in the collections of the Royal Pavillion in Brighton, the model by Thomas Hope.
