Published without authorship, attributed to François Rozier and Antoine-Louis Claret de la Tourette and Jean Emmanuel Gilbert.
Two in-8 volumes in full calf, smooth spines richly decorated with gilded floral motifs, I: XL, 316 pp. and VIII plates hors texte in fine d'ouvrage engraved by F.B Gautier and II: VIII, 652 pages then XL, (4).
The first volume presents an introduction to Botany, containing a summary of the principles and history of this science and the elements of plant physics, followed by an introduction to the formation of a herbarium, dissection, maceration and infusion of plants.
The second volume contains a description of common plants, arranged according to M. de Tournefort's method: an indication of the class and order they occupy in Chevalier von Linné's system: their uses and properties in human and veterinary medicine.
Copies adorned with the bookplate of Desprez de Roche. Damage and loss on the fourth cover of volume II, spotting without damage to the text in the margins of the leaves of volume II. Slight loss to the upper jaw of volume I.
