LEROY (André). Dictionary of Pomology containing the history, description and figure of the most widely known and cultivated ancient and modern fruits, published between 1867 and 1879. Rare copy of the first edition of the dictionary of pomology by André Leroy, nurseryman, knight of the Legion of Honor, administrator of the Banque de France branch, former president of the Angers horticultural show, member of the horticultural societies of Paris, London, the United States and several other agricultural and learned societies in France and abroad. Complete with the last two volumes concerning stone fruits (apricots, cherries). 6 in-8 paperback volumes of I: 615 pages; II: 776 pages (1); III: 448 pages; IV: from (1), then from 446 pages to 880 pages; V: 400 pages and VI: 333 pages The first two volumes list pear varieties, while volumes 3 and 4 are devoted to apples, and the last two volumes are devoted to stone fruits: the fifth volume deals with apricots and cherries, and the last volume with peaches. Directory of 915 pear varieties, 527 apple varieties, 43 apricot varieties, 127 cherry varieties and 143 peach varieties.
