LEVASSEUR. - Lot 145
LEVASSEUR. A. Combette in Paris in 1852. In-folio in half-basane, spine with false ribbing, richly decorated with box decorations, gilt title, richly embossed boards, with a central gilt title; consisting of : Tableau statistique de la France, followed by 99 engraved plans of said departments, colonies, continents and a filled-in map of France. This atlas, which was widely used in town halls and printed around twenty times by three different Parisian publishers (Binet (1842-1844), Amable Combette (from 1843 to 1858), then by Pelissier (1859-1872)), has become relatively rare bound and complete; most copies having been broken to sell the maps individually. Binding rubbed, corners dulled, lower head joint torn. Fairly fresh inside, with a few minor margin defects on some maps.
