In-12 in contemporary vellum, with (2), 420 pp. and (5) tables. Text published without mention of author, which takes up most of Guy Coquille's "Coutumes du pays et duché de Nivernais", published in 1590. A kind of compendium of local law, very complete, covering rules on confiscations, fiefs, rents and mortgages, personal servitudes, tithes, vineyards, rivers, woods, donations, guardianships, successions, etc. A popular work "to teach you in a few words what our predecessors ordered to be the custom in this country, in order to avoid or clear up the embarrassments of quarrels and procedures which daily occur between relatives and friends, making them enemies for lack of ample intelligence in their affairs". Numerous pen-and-ink bookplates on cover, edge, spine and endpapers. Handwritten text on the back cover of the binding (reused vellum?). Wormholes on a few leaves at the end of the book, with slight loss of text.
