HENRI RAPIN (1873-1939) OR SCHOOL OF - AN IMPORTANT DECORATI - Lot 378
HENRI RAPIN (1873-1939) OR SCHOOL OF - AN IMPORTANT DECORATION FOR A HOUSE IN THE CHER REGION, CIRCA 1900-1910 Interesting walnut desk with two suspended pedestals, each opening with a drawer. The four legs, slightly set back from the top and at an angle to the entablature, slope inwards and are each received by a doucine and overhanging glide. The top is finished with a longitudinal projection on the visitor's side, forming a stop. Original bronze drawer grips - possibly American (cf. Herter Brothers). H. 75 cm - W. 131 cm - D. 81 cm Condition of use, sunstains, one small missing foot. Provenance: From a very important decoration made around 1900-1910 for the Rétif family estate (horse-drawn carriage factory) in the Cher department, which attracted many artists from their owner's circle of friends. Two medallion paintings signed Henri Rapin and painted directly on the living room doors are still in place in the house. Expert : Emmanuel Eyraud
