HENRI RAPIN (1873-1939) OR SCHOOL OF - AN IMPORTANT DECORATI - Lot 379
HENRI RAPIN (1873-1939) OR SCHOOL OF - AN IMPORTANT DECORATION FOR A HOUSE IN THE CHER REGION, CIRCA 1900-1910 Very interesting oak architect's pedestal. The four asymmetrical jambs form the openwork shaft, with broken lines accommodating a crotch shelf; the mounts are concealed by hammered copper covers. The square top is supported by buttresses. H. 133 cm - L. 34 cm - W. 34 cm Used condition, missing hammered copper covers. Provenance: From a very important decoration made around 1900-1910 for the Rétif family estate (horse-drawn carriage factory) in the Cher region, which attracted many artists from the owners' circle of friends. Two medallion paintings signed Henri Rapin and painted directly on the living room doors are still in place in the house. Expert : Emmanuel Eyraud
