Robert COMBAS (born 1957). - Lot 193
Robert COMBAS (born 1957). Sérénade avec plomb dans la tête - 1985. Monumental acrylic composition on canvas mounted on canvas, signed at foot. H_197 cm L_153 cm Provenance: Galerie Yvon Lambert, rue Vieille du Temple, Paris (inventory number A.2140). We would like to thank the Archives Robert Combas, who have confirmed the authenticity of this work and its archive number. Note: the full title of our work is "Paco le nain tire sur le grand Pito Ramuncho qui drague Maria Magdalena qui a le trou du cul maquille avec de la poudre de chez Razade. Before he got shot in the head, Ramuncho Pito was singing a sweet electric ballad with his guitar, and he was even accompanied by two steamy Ipopotamuses. But Paco was too jealous. He'd listened too much to Gainsbourg's latest album: Maria Magdalena wasn't a monk, but she was still his daughter. Note: The work we are offering for sale perfectly exposes the dreamlike universe of the co-founder of Figuration Libre (1979). Its title, endowed with a certain poetic and humorous force, depicts the art of Robert Combas: figurative painting, spontaneous, colorful, with multiple themes and provocative iconography. Here, the artist blends ultra-violence, popular culture, exaggerated eroticism and biblical inspirations, taking on the popular American imagery of graffiti. This condensed version of the 80s uses chromatic and narrative intensity.
