A ship-shaped hard-paste porcelain writing case, the prow formed by a child triton blowing into a conch surmounted by a lion's head, the stern in the form of a mermaid's tail, decorated in gold, resting on a rectangular base with a green background.

Marked: LL interlaced, fleur de lys Sèvres in blue and 26 J 19 probably for July 29, 1819.

Restoration to the bow and to a chip at the edge of a lid, chips.
Four ship's writing cases entered the Sèvres factory sales store in 1814 and 1815, the first three described: richly decorated, the third described: red and black background, richly decorated. A fifth writing case entered the store on August 6, 1819, described as a ship and pl(ateau) writing case, simply decorated, priced at 220 francs. This is probably the present case. (Arch.
