Gilt bronze and patinated candlestick, "Zephyr" model, decorated with a blower's head, signs of the zodiac and radiating circular base. 19th century. After a model by Claude GALLE (1759-1815) for the Palais de Fontainebleau (delivered in 1805). H_31 cm, electrically mounted. Claude GALLE worked with many outstanding craftsmen, including Pierre-Philippe THOMIRE, and supplied the majority of the furnishing bronzes for the Château de Fontainebleau under the Empire. He received numerous imperial commissions for lights, clock boxes and vases for the palaces of Saint-Cloud, the Trianons, the Tuileries, Compiègne and Rambouillet.
