Luis Ricardo FALERO (Spanish painter, 1851-1896). - Lot 5
Luis Ricardo FALERO (Spanish painter, 1851-1896).
The Coquette.
Oil on panel, signed lower left, titled on an old label on the back.
The panel bears a stamp of the Parisian color dealer "Tableaux modernes - Boichard - Place de l'Opéra" on the back.
H_40 cm W_25 cm
In a carved and gilded wood frame, with brass cartouche marked "Luis Falero".
Note: Trained in Paris, Falero (Granada 1851-London 1896) is noted for his refined, sensual feminine scenes, with an academic realism close to Bouguereau and Lefebvre. Our painting illustrates this intimate, worldly vein, typical of fin-de-siècle salon painting.
Note: A painting by the Spanish painter Eduardo Zamacois y Zabala (1842-1871), in the Petit Palais, bears a similar stamp on the back by the color dealer located at 8, place de l'Opéra.
