HERALDIC MANUSCRIPT - Lot 1
HERALDIC MANUSCRIPT
An in-4 full vellum volume with 337 handwritten pages, illustrated with coats of arms, and 16 folio pages and a large fold-out plate of hand-painted coats of arms.
Exceptional set of genealogical and heraldic researches attributed to Casimir de Sars de Solmon (1767-1859), infantry captain, commander of the Valenciennes National Guard, author of genealogies, notes and epitaphs of the northern provinces, preserved at the Valenciennes Library. The de Sars family is an aristocratic family from Flanders (whose family arms of gold on a gules bend, charged with three silver lions, were recorded in 1696 in the Armorial général, Valenciennes register).
