Het Gezandtschap Der Neerlandtsche Oost-Indische Compagnie aan den grooten tartarischen Cham, den tegenwoordigen Keizer van China, Amsterdam, Waasberge, Boom, Van Someren en Goethals, 1693.
In folio in full vellum reinforced with later cloth on the spine, and partly covered with a sheet of blue paper of : (8), 208 pages, 258 (9), 28 double-page hors texte engravings. Numerous black engravings in the text.
Incomplete copy of this voyage by the ambassadors of the East India Company of the United Provinces to the Emperor of China. A rare and precious document on the region in the 17th century.
Lacks frontispiece, title page, author's portrait and privilege. The work normally has 35 engravings outside the text, but this copy has only 28. Many engravings have writing on the spine, visible in transparency (Kanton's, Xaocheu's detached, detached from the work, Hukoen's, torn in the middle). Faded binding. Some leaves about to detach.
