ESCOFFIER (Auguste, 1846-1935) to Charles HUMBERT (1966-1927), Senator for the Meuse (1908-1920).
Typescript LAS, dated April 3, 1917 and sent from the Carlton Hotel in London to Charles Humbert, in which Monsieur Escoffié expresses his ideas concerning "the oil crisis" and his enmity towards the German enemy.
In-4 on two pages, some wear.
Charles HUMBERT, holder of the Légion d'Honneur, deputy, journalist and senator, was very active during the First World War. It was in his capacity as senator that Auguste Escoffier sought to contact him: "The 'Journal' of March 29 [1917] encourages me to address myself, confidentially, to your high judgment, for all matters concerning National Defense and capable of assuring us victory over our enemies".
