ESCOFFIER (Auguste, 1846-1935). "Un dessert idéal au temps des Cerises". Autograph signed piece describing the recipe for Cerises confites au sucre et à la liqueur de noyau, to be served with "a rock of vanilla ice cream". "And what is the baptismal name of this delicacy? 'Le Rêve d'Anna Thibaud' [famous French singer of the early 20th century]". The play opens with these words: "A young shepherd who had just picked a basket of cherries was about to feast on them with his shepherdess; she, by a pretty whim, offered him the first fruit with the tip of her pink lips...".
