One volume in full calf, spine ribbed with title page of one hundred handwritten pages.
One leaf printed and pasted as a title page: "This manuscript is the work of Cardin Le Bret (1675-1734) who held the stewardship of Bearn and Navarre with distinction" signed and dated September 10, 1926.
Cardin Le Bret (1675-1734) was a councillor at the Parliament of Provence, maître des requêtes ordinaires de l'Hôtel du roi, commissioner to the King of France and given full powers to delimit the borders between France and Spain.
This manuscript contains a table of the main subjects contained in this memoir, namely: situation and boundaries, nature of the inhabitants, domination of Béarn, religion, ecclesiastical state of Béarn, military government, militia, justice, coinage, maréchaussée of Béarn and Navarre, noble houses of Béarn, description of lower Navarre, states, ecclesiastical state, justice, militia, noble houses.
