Desgodetz, architecte du roi, Paris, Claude Antoine Jombert fils ainé, 1779 In-folio in full speckled calf, roulette decorations on the boards, smooth spine richly decorated with : XJ, (1), 140 pages, 137 plates New edition of this work by architect Antoine Desgodetz (1653-1728) - commissioned by Colbert in 1674 to survey the ancient buildings of Rome - first published in 1682. Bearing the bookplate of French painter and art historian Jean-Baptiste Descamps (1714-1791), engraved by Noël Le Mire. Apparent stamp on some pages (not deciphered). Corners dulled. One spine split.
