Rare. Album printed on Auvergne paper by hand at Moulin Richard de Bas. Limited edition of 121 copies: one of 99 numbered copies. Illustrated with 22 burins and originals by Krol. Signed by the artist at the justification of the print run. Abram Krol (1919-2001), painter and engraver, was born in Pabjanice, Poland, into a Jewish family. At the age of 19, he left for France and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Avignon. In 1944, he moved to Paris. For a time, he worked as a lathe worker by day, and as a painter by night. This activity gave rise to his first exhibition in 1946 at the Katia Granoff gallery. A few months later, Abram Krol met the engraver Joseph Hecht, who introduced him to the art of the burin. He then discovered new techniques, the art of medals at the invitation of the Monnaie de Paris and the art of enamel. He has illustrated many prestigious texts.
