ENGRAVING] KROL (Abram)] The Bride of the Seventh Day, Caractères, 1955 One volume, leaves, in full beige cloth folder and slipcase. Limited edition of 99 copies, one of 7 (IV) containing an original drawing, 1 copperplate and a suite on Japon. Enriched with a friendly letter from the artist to Haïm Benveniste (1891-1964), industrialist, Second World War Resistance fighter and administrator of the Maison de la pensée française (Médaille de la Résistance in 1946 and chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1949). Abram Krol befriended Haïm Benveniste in the post-war period, the latter being a trustee of the 'Jacob Benveniste' foundation for young victims of the Nazis; Abram Krol lost his entire family in the Holocaust. Enclosed is a catalog of Abram Krol's exhibition at the Heffer Gallery, Cambridge, signed by the artist. Enclosed is a letter of New Year's greetings from the artist to Haïm Benveniste, accompanied by an original color engraving of a rooster and a sun. An exceptional set.
