MANUSCRIPT/HISTORY] ANONYMOUS] Roman history. An in-8 volume bound in full calf, spine ribbed and richly decorated with gilt, with 135 numbered leaves. No date. Manuscript covering nearly 400 years of Roman history, recounting major events, conflicts, new emperors, etc. The work opens with the funeral harangue of Caesar by Mark Antony; and contains chapters on the defeat and death of Brutus; the agreement of Augustus; the relationship of Mark Antony and Cleopatra; the death of his last; the battle of Actium; the reign of Augustus... etc... and ends with the death of the emperor Theodore the Younger, followed by that of Aetius and the Valentinian emperor. Fresh interior, very legible writing. Short chapters. Corners dulled. Cracked spines with slight lack of leather.
